Methodology

The atlas combines source-grounded regional research files into one canonical index. Cross-region duplicates are removed by explicit ownership rules, while records without usable coordinates remain in the dataset but not on the map. Marker positions identify a reported city or institution, not the geographic reach of an actor.

The categories are editorial aids, not rankings. “Invasive” and “non-invasive” describe the modality in the underlying record; status and maturity are normalized from heterogeneous source language. Confidence reflects the evidence recorded for each entry. The combined atlas remains a research dataset and has not been publication-reviewed as a single artifact.
